    • I stayed alone in Shayne and Nathan's yurt and had an amazing time. Whilst the weather and my health wasn't fantastic I didn't take many long rambling walks as I'd hoped, but snuggling in the yurt and it's beautiful surroundings was just as lovely. Nathan gave me a postcode and to warn others, if you are not coming in through the village as I didn't it may send you up a hill with a 'Cynwyd Forest' sign on the right as described in the directions, but it is not the right one! Nathan was patient and lovely with my lateness as I didn't make it at the time I had hoped! There are many walks around and a large map in the kitchen with suggestions and OS maps to borrow if you require. The yurt and kitchen/shower is spotlessly clean, however be mindful that the yurts and area is respectfully very eco friendly so plastics/wet wipes and a disregard for this (ie taking long showers) would be disrespectful to the ethos. The kitchen has good amenities but make sure you take anything you need food and drink wise as well as seasoning etc. Thank you both for your lovely hospitality and I hope to come back when I am less contagious!

    • Out of this world!

We booked to stay at the yurt as a break from our busy and hectic lives. Needless to say, waking up every morning to the trickling sound of the stream, crackling embers fading from the fire and the smells of the forest made for more of a break than we ever imagined!

We arrived after spending the day bike riding through Coed-Y-Brenin, a forest around 50 minutes from the yurt, which we thoroughly recommend to all riding abilities! Nathan and Shayne were both so helpful and friendly, welcoming us to their home and showing us around the yurt, kitchen and dining areas, bathroom and fire areas and giving us lots of great ideas for our stay. We weren't aware that there is another, larger yurt also on site which can house up to 8 people. Luckily there were only 2 others in the other yurt, otherwise sharing the kitchen and bathroom could've created quite a queue! Hopefully the plans for building an additional kitchen/bathroom will help this.

Inside our yurt, we had a small wood burner that Nathan and Shayne kindly provided the wood for which heated the room perfectly. There was also a large sofa which could've been pulled out into another bed, and one of the comfiest double beds we’ve ever slept in! Memory foam mattress, down quilt and springy pillows! We also had at least 5 extra blankets and throws in a small cupboard which we used for sitting outside.

Outside the yurt we were provided with 2 seated hammocks and a large lie down hammock which 2 of us slept in together very comfortably one evening by the warmth of the fire!

All in all, we had a fabulous time and will definitely be returning! A brilliant place to visit for a quiet, relaxing break.

    • I have had the great pleasure in spending a night at Ty Mam Mawr and also running a weekend retreat there.
I whole heartedly recommend this place for both time away and holding a retreat.
The environment is gorgeous and secluded with a beautiful forest walk and open fields right near by.
The yurts are a true delight to sleep in with ideal decor to match your get away in nature.
Shayne & Nathan the owners are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met and so accommodating. If you want to be on your own doing your own thing they leave you to it or if you want to engage in some loving conversation they are all ears with wise words to share.

I will be back again and again for the whole experience they have provided. I honestly am so happy I found Ty Mam Mawr.
You have found the place you are looking for!
